Old City Tour

The historic part of Dar es Salaam has a nearly 150-year dynamic and exciting history. The ethnic group Zaramo established the city in 1862, but during the years the city has been under Omani, German, and British colonial administration.
You can still see the old German street plan, implemented by the German East Africa Company, which is the framework of the city. Old Dar es Salaam has colonial buildings and the area attracts artists from all over Africa for its art and music events.

The House of Wonders

This iconic building is one of the landmarks in Stone Town. It once claimed the title of the most modern building on the island of Zanzibar and was the first to feature electricity and an elevator. It overlooks the island’s waterfront and its architecture features an exotic blend of European style and Zanzibar tradition.

Kariokoo Market

Dar es Salaam's biggest and busiest Market is Kariakoo, it is a must-visit while in Dar.
The shopping is amazing at Kariakoo market, it's affordable clothing with African prints, vegetables, fruits, spices, meat, and household products. Its fun just walking around this vibrant, colour filled and lively market. If you do not know Swahili you need to go with a guide.
