Dar es Salaam Histroric Center

The historic part of Dar es Salaam has a nearly 150-year dynamic and exciting history. The ethnic group Zaramo established the city in 1862, but during the years the city has been under Omani, German, and British colonial administration.
You can still see the old German street plan, implemented by the German East Africa Company, which is the framework of the city. Old Dar es Salaam has colonial buildings and the area attracts artists from all over Africa for its art and music events.

Masjid Qiblatein Mosque

We will walk pass Masjid Qiblatein mosque which is one of the oldest mosques in Dar es Salaam. Its located in the busy Kariokoo district which is the heart of the buzzing city. If you like we can go inside, it looks very beautiful from the inside. Entry to the mosque is free.

Kariokoo Market

Once we start seeing make-shift stalls, you will know that we have reached the market. Here we will see piled with habanero chilli peppers, tomatoes and carrots, there are small hung yellow bags of cooking oil, chilli powder, white rice, and mounds of local fruit.
Get the real African experience and experience a busy African market. We will meet amazing vendors, see daily life and I can help you with bargaining if you would do some souvenir buying.
