What to Expect

Come and join us for a fun day tour to our lovely small coffee farm with fantastic views of Buffalo Mountain (Chanzave mountain as locally known) which is located in a small village in Machakos County in Kenya. See how coffee is grown and see daily life on the farm and in the village. Meet lovely welcoming locals and admire the fantastic views.

The tour starts at 8:30 am and will pick you up from the meeting point (Uchumi Car Park, Aga Khan Walk, Nairobi City Centre) in Nairobi and then drive to a small rural village about 1.5 hours away in the Eastern part of Kenya. At the farm, you will be met and warmly welcomed by the farm guide who is also the farm owner, a retired primary school teacher turned into a farmer.

As you tour the coffee farm, the farm guide will educate you about the type of coffee grown in Kenya, the time it takes to grow, how it is cultivated, pruned, harvested, husked, washed, sun-dried, packed and stored. You may even get some a chance to buy some fresh coffee beans to roast.

After the farm tour, you will have a local sumptuous lunch prepared from the farm's own fresh products at the farm's modest homestead by a local chef. Here you will be able to experience a variety of local Kenya cuisine including the region's Akamba food known as Muthokoi.

You will also learn more about the Akamba people and their culture from the farm guide. After your lunch, you will have a chance to take a stroll with the farm guide into the farm's vegetable garden.

Here you will be able to see and learn more about the other crops including vegetables and fruits that are grown in the region. You will also have a short village walk to experience the village surroundings. Finally, after a good time in the farm, you will be driven back to Nairobi and to your drop off point.
