What to Expect

This 2 day private sight-seeing tour is lead by your very own guide who will pick you up and drop you off each day from your hotel. You will be chauffeured around in the comfort of your very own air-conditioned vehicle. With the luxury of stoping for as long or as little as you like at your very own pace. A memorable experience with local knowledge by local people.
Please note this is a guided sight-seeing tour only.

Day One
We collect you from your hotel in Edinburgh and depart at 8.45am, making the short drive to the quaint village of South Queensferry. From here, we get a great view of Scotland’s sixth world heritage site, the Forth Railway Bridge. Dating from 1890, this is very much a Scottish engineering icon and a very impressive structure.

We then travel over the Firth of Forth, into the Kingdom of Fife, making our next stop at the attractive small town of Dunkeld. You can visit the 16thC cathedral, spend time wandering along the banks of Scotland’s longest river, the Tay, or perhaps squeeze in a bit of shopping at one of the towns arts, craft and jewellery shops.

We then make the short drive to the Hermitage, a 17thC planned forest walk, and take in the dramatic view of the waterfalls and rapids of the River Braan.

Having worked up an appetite, we then stop at the Victorian town of Pitlochry for some lunch. In the afternoon, we drive into the Cairngorm National Park where you can visit our highest whisky distillery, Dalwhinnie. This is an interesting distillery where you can find out how our national drink is made and sample a dram paired with boutique chocolate.

We continue our journey to the capital of the Highlands, Inverness, picturesquely situated on the banks of the River Ness. There is an impressive array of restaurants here to suit all tastes and budgets.

Day Two
We shall collect you from your accommodation at 8.45am and take the short drive down the Great Glen to world renowned Loch Ness.

Famous for its beauty and elusive monster Nessie, it is possible for you to take an hour long boat trip here, or, if you would prefer, visit the ancient ruins of Urquhart Castle.

Our next stop shall be at the Commando Memorial, an interesting piece of military history and an impressive sculpture. On a clear day, there are dramatic views from here to Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest mountain.

We then take the short drive to Fort William, our lunch stop. Enjoy some lunch in one of the pubs and cafes here, or perhaps you would prefer to visit the West Highland museum, where you will find an interesting array of artefacts.

Next stop will be Glencoe where we can enjoy a short walk around Glencoe Lochan, a Lochan being a small Loch. Great to stretch the legs and enjoy the fresh Highland air and pretty views.

We then return to Edinburgh, stopping briefly at Killin to view the Falls of Dochart, dramatic river rapids, and maybe have a little refreshment.
Passing by Doune Castle, Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument, we shall arrive back into central Edinburgh at around 7.15pm.

If you only have two days to explore the Highlands of Scotland and Loch Ness, The Adventurer is the tour for you. This itinerary, as with all of our itineraries, can be modified to suit your own preferences and requirements.
