What to Expect

Explore famous landmarks and hidden secrets in Edinburgh on this 3-hour walking tour.

Explore Edinburgh’s famous Royal Mile with a guide, and gain insight into famous writers and inventors who have called the city home such as Sir Walter Scott, Alexander Graham Bell and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Hear of Scotland's national bard — Robert Burns — and discover top landmarks such as St Giles’ Cathedral and the National Galleries of Scotland. Capture Edinburgh through the eye of your camera as you go, and find out what makes this ancient city tick.

The walks normally take three hours but can be modified to suit the visitor's requirements (as can the route and itinerary). Visitors will be shown the delights of Edinburgh's famous Royal Mile together with a delightful commentary from Stuart on the celebrated characters that hail from the city. People like the great historical romance author Sir Walter Scott, the inventor of the telephone Alexander Graham Bell, the creator of Sherlock Holmes, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and, the original 'Jekyll and Hyde', Deacon Brodie.

In the National Galleries you will view paintings from the Old Masters such as Da Vinci, Rembrandt, Raphael, Titian and many others, while Stuart can give his personal insights into the paintings. You will also visit some of Edinburgh's famous 'closes', including those associated with some of the city's famous sons such as David Hume and Deacon Brodie.

There will be plenty of excitement and fun, as well as plenty of opportunities to take some memorable photographs of the best-known landmarks of Scotland's glorious and ancient capital city!
