What to Expect

Day 1: Bishkek – Kyzyl Oi (200 km, 60% asphalt, 40% dirt road)
Your guide will pick you up at Manas International Airport and accompany you to the capital city of Kyrgyzstan, just a 30-minute drive from the airport. You will have some free time to have a rest in a hotel until lunch in a 3 star hotel. After lunch we start our drive to Kyzyl Oi village. The road travels through the southern part of Kyrgyzstan. During the journey be prepared for amazing views of impressive mountains and gorges. Today you will see the panoramic views of Tue Ashuu pass which is more than 3000 meters high. This road is considered to be one of the most beautiful in Kyrgyzstan. You will have many opportunities for photo stops to remember this day. The night you will spend in a home stay. A Kyrgyz family will prepare a traditional dinner for you.
Day 2: Kyzyl Oi – Son Kul (140 km, 100 % dirt road)
After breakfast we start our drive to the second largest lake in Kyrgyzstan – Son Kul Lake. This lake is surrounded by mountains and it is the highest alpine lake in Kyrgyzstan, situated at an altitude of 3013 meters above sea level. Kyrgyz nomads started to come to this wonderful area with their families for rest and relaxation. Herders of the Naryn region come to the lake to use it as a pastureland. After our arrival, you will be free to explore and enjoy the virgin nature of the lake and its surroundings. Dinner and overnight is in nomadic collapsible dwellings - yurts. They are made of a wooden skeleton, covered with felt coverings.
Day 3: Son Kul – Tash Rabat (255 km, 20% asphalt, 80% dirt road)
After breakfast you will be transferred to the Tash Rabat Caravanserai on the Great Silk Road (Stone Castle from the 14th century). The building is unique. Tash Rabat is located at the very heart of Tian Shan Mountains. Tash Rabat was built of stone blocks inside a mountain at an elevation of 3200 m above sea level. In total there are 31 rooms in the mountain. The walls are 1 m thick. There are also underground prison cells formerly used to incarcerate thieves in ancient times. There will be a traditional dinner and the night will be spent in yurts near Tash Rabat Caravanserai.
Day 4: Tash Rabat – Naryn (115 km, 100% asphalt)
In thу morning you will have a beautiful horseback riding tour around the area. It is a wonderful chance to learn about traditions and custom of Kyrgyz people. After lunch we will drive along high mountains to Naryn town. It is situated right in the gorge. These passes on the way, combined with high mountains and nomadic way of life – make Kyrgyzstan an irresistible travel destination. Views of this mountain road are absolutely breathtaking. This day offers a great chance to experience the variety of mountains which make Kyrgyzstan so popular. On the way it will be possible to meet real nomadic families. Night will be in a guesthouse.
Day 5: Naryn – Tamga (365 km, 20% asphalt, 80% dirt road)
Today you will pass a breathtaking pass over 3 000 m above sea level. During the journey be prepared for amazing views of impressive mountains and gorges. Today you will see the panoramic view of the lake with snow- capped mountains in the background. Picnic lunch is on the way. In the evening we will reach celestial Issyk Kul Lake, the second largest alpine lake in the world (1608m.above sea level). The lake is called "the pearl of Central Asia". Its length is 180 km and it is 60 km wide. The lake is called "the pearl of Central Asia". For more than 1 500 years local people considered the lake to be a sacred one. Thanks to the salty water, Lake Issyk Kul possesses curative qualities. Dinner and night is in Tamga guesthouse
Day 6: Tamga – Karakol (190 km, 70% asphalt, 30% dirt road)
Today we will drive Barskaun gorge to see a waterfall. Also we will drive up to the mountains to see the beuty of amazing views. After it we will drive to Jeti Oguz gorge. It’s famous for its red rocks formations that have a name Seven Bulls – Jeti Oguz. Also you will see there the Broken Heart Mountain. Then we continue our way to Karakol town. You will visit the Dungan mosque. One of its highlights is the fact that It was built in Chinese style without using a single metal nail. This will be followed by the visit of an old wooden Orthodox Church. Your diiner will be ready at 7 p.m. This night will be in a home stay.
Day 7: Karakol – Issyk Kul (190 km, 70% asphalt, 30% dirt road)
Your guide will pick you up at 9 a.m. Afterwards you will be transferred to Issyk Kul Lake. This time we will drive along the northern shore of Issyk Kul Lake. This is a great chance to see the whole lake from all sides. It is the biggest mountain lake in Central Asia and also the favorite place for swimming in summer time. People come to vacation at the lake from neighboring countries. On the way you will drive to the most beautiful gorges of the lake named Semenovskoye and Grigorievskoye that are connected in the end. This area is part of the national park. Here you will be able to enjoy the magnificent mountains covered with snow tops and slopes grown by blue and green pine trees. When driving up to the very bottom of the gorge you are going to see a beautiful lake. In the afternoon is free time to swim in the lake.
Day 8: Issyk Kul lake – Bishkek (270 km, 100% asphalt)
In the morning you will be transferred to Bishkek city. On the way, we will make a short break to give you the opportunity to visit ancient stone inscriptions (dating back to 800 B.C.). Today we will visit Burana Tower. It is a minaret from the 11th century. Burana Tower was used during the Great Silk Road as a sign for travelers that there was a city to have a rest. Nearby you will see an open air museum of Balbans (stone warriors). After an interesting excursion and climbing to the top of the tower you will transfer to the Kyrgz capital. Traditional dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Night is in a hotel.
Day 9: Bishkek – Airport
In the morning is transfer to airport.
