What to Expect

When visiting Bangkok for the first time, one of the highlights of a city tour would be the area around old Bangkok where the most important edifices of the kings and significant temples are located along the majestic Chao Phraya River.

This tour will show the history of the Thai nation and the history of Bangkok itself. Visitors who take this tour will have ample opportunity to gain knowledge on our country’s history, our people’s way of life along the river, and the great role of Buddhism in Thai society.

One of the best ways to explore Bangkok is to cruise along the Chao Phraya to view life on the river banks. Here we will see luxurious hotels, hundred year old houses and temples from 16th century onward.

A visit to Wat Po or the Reclining Buddha Temple (which is an oldest & largest temple in Bangkok) will allow you to see a colossal 46 meter long reclining Buddha. This should show you how strong and devout the Thai people are in our Buddhist religion. Since the temple covers a vast area of 20 acres it should take a minimum of one hour to see the hundreds of stupas, Buddha images, statues and stones with their significant inscriptions.

A final visit at the temple of the Emerald Buddha and the Grand Palace will allow you to admire delicate Thai art and architecture of early Bangkok-style. There you’ll see a golden stupa glittering in the morning or afternoon sun, the outer edifice of depository of Buddhist manuscript and others like Ho Phra Nark and ordination hall which were lavishly built and decorated with colorful glass mosaics. This will show you the finest Thai art and craftsmanship.

We strongly recommend this tour program as an important cultural part of your holiday in our land of smiles.
